Suella Braverman has released a campaign video on TikTok that features her strutting with Tory activists. The 15-second clip shows the former home secretary wearing dark sunglasses, green trousers and swaggering to the soundtrack of DJ Fedde Le Grand’s 2006 hit “Let Me Think About It”. Mrs Braverman made use of a popular “trend” on the social media platform, which originated from a humorous video showing a baby enthusiastically responding to an aunt’s suggestion of staying at a luxury hotel. In the original video, which has been viewed more than 40 million times, a woman’s voice is heard saying: “I have a question for everybody. Who wants to go to the Four Seasons Orlando?” The woman’s niece – who appears to be under two and is held by a family member – then raises her finger up in the air and says “me” as another little girl in the room also expresses her approval. In Mrs Braverman’s video, the same audio is heard, yet white text reads: “Who is going to vote for Suella on the 4th July?” When the “me” response is played, Mrs Braverman is seen standing in front of around a dozen Tory activists, who are holding signs and waving. More than 700 people have liked the clip, which promotes Mrs Braverman’s campaign to win the new constituency seat of Fareham and Waterlooville. The qualified barrister won the now defunct Fareham constituency in 2019 with a 63.7 per cent share of the vote and a 26,086 majority. Under a 2023 review of Westminster constituencies, the constituency was dissolved and merged with Meon Valley to form Fareham and Waterlooville.
