The tech layoff wave appears to be continuing with major cuts at TikTok. TikTok informed employees this week it plans to lay off a large number of people from its operations, content, and marketing departments, unnamed staffers told The Information, which on Tuesday was the first to report the news. Impacted employees will be notified on Wednesday night or Thursday morning, according to The Information's report. It's unclear how many people will be laid off, but unnamed employees told the outlet TikTok is scrapping its global user operations team and that the team members who are not laid off will join other departments. The video-sharing app already laid off dozens of employees at the top of the year, but The Information noted TikTok rarely carries out large-scale layoffs like those that have been more common at other tech companies.
