Donald Trump joined the popular video-sharing app TikTok this weekend, surpassing the number of followers of Biden’s campaign account. In Trump’s first post on the platform he previously tried to ban, he called it his “honor” to join the app. UFC CEO Dana White declares dramatically in the video: “the president is now on TikTok.”

The actual president, Joe Biden, also joined TikTok with his campaign account earlier this year — and also signed the law that will have the app banned in the United States.

Within 24 hours, his Trump’s video brought in over 2 million likes and over 38 million views, while his account has gained over 2 million followers. His follower count surpassed the Biden-Harris HQ account, which joined the platform back in February, by six times the number of followers:

“We will leave no front undefended …This represents the continued outreach to a younger audience consuming pro-Trump and anti-Biden content,” said Trump campaign spokesperson Steven Cheung in a statement to Axios. “There’s no place better than a UFC event to launch President Trump’s TikTok … [H]e received a hero’s welcome and thousands of fans cheered him on.”

Trump was greeted with a standing ovation on Saturday night while in New jersey for a UFC match, following his conviction in New York on all 34 counts relating to his hush money trial. Recently, Trump has changed his stance towards TikTok after President Joe Biden recently signed a bill requiring ByteDance, the parent owner of TikTok, to divest from the product. Moreover, Donald Trump Jr. along with the Trump super PAC MAGA Inc. have also joined the platform over the last week. According to a recent report from The New York Times, an internal analysis of the app found twice as many pro-Trump posts when compared to pro-Biden ones since November of last year, indicating the rightward shift of the platform.
